Yes! I happened to post about this exact issue after seeing off leash dogs in the kids playground for the millionth time this morning and often finding dog poop in there when with my kids. Agree!

Our tax dollars paid for an excellent dog park just two blocks away. Fellow dog owners need to show more responsibility for their animals in this great community. Leash them at all times at Dana Park! Have your hand on the other end of the leash (don't just drag the leash). I don't care what breed or age or disposition your dog has.

Sorry folks - Cambridge won't do anything. This will be 'assigned' to Animal Control, who will tell you they can't issue a ticket unless they personally witness the owner with dog off leash and/or not picking up poop (video/photos/a signed statement from the offender saying "I did this and am not sorry"....none of that counts....Animal Control must witness it, live in the moment). Guess how often dog owners are ticketed in Cambridge? (Spoiler: per Animal Control THEMSELVES - never!)

The Cambridge Parks and Rec Office can replace the missing and unreadable signage that states "Dogs Must Be Leashed at All Times" -- I think that is a great place to start to encourage fellow dog owners. :-)

IMAGINE A WORLD...where the only thing stopping Cambridge dog owners from not picking up their dog poop and allowing their dogs to run willy nilly off leash any time they want is...a sign that says "dogs must be leashed at all times"!

It's nice to feel appreciated. :) Here's to a world where Cambridge dog owners stop leaving their poop everywhere and assume that they can let their dogs run wild anywhere because everyone stops to pet them/smiles at them. I'm an animal lover who has lived all over the U.S., and find myself now hating dog owners because of the ones in Cambridge...and the lack of any consequences for them. I guess you can tell, I've called Animal Control many times!
